FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - RIVER TABLES
How much does a river table cost
Each River Table that we design and construct is unique. The cost depends on wood species selection, overall dimensions and thickness, table base design and length of the project. Our dining room size river tables start at $6,000.
How LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A RIVER TABLE?
The construction of a river table is highly labor intensive. The length of time could vary on numerous variables such as wood selection and kiln time to the amount of epoxy that the table requires. Each step in the process is dependent on each other. Think of these tables as a piece of art that takes time to come together. We do not want to rush any of the steps that these tables require.
I want a table but don’t know what size I need, can you help?
We will absolutely help! We will start with a conversation, we will ask you the type of entertaining you do, look at the room the table will go in and help you select a size that will perfectly fit your room.
Live Edge or Eased Edge?
This really boils down to personal preference, what you want in your home. The pros to a live edge table are it is pure, raw natural beauty at it’s finest. In a live edge you see all of the life of the tree, the curves and shape. The con’s are that it is not a clean, seamless straight edge. If you prefer a cleaner look we suggest choosing an eased edge. Another factor in determining this is the material yield of the slab. We will discuss all these factors during the consultation.
How durable are the tables?
This is highly dependent on the wood species that you choose for your slabs. Each species of wood is ranked on the janka scale which is a number given for hardness. A table that has children in the home or sees daily use we recommend choosing wood that has is higher on the janka scale. For instance, we have 4 boys and have a hickory coffee table that sees daily abuse of toy cars and dinosaurs slamming on the wood. If you were to look at our coffee table you would never know how the boys treat it. Hickory, Live Oak, Pecan and Hard Maple are our slabs of choice. We seal our tables with a plant based oil that works by forming a molecular bond with the topmost fibers of the wood. This results in a durable, water-resistant finish, all while keeping the natural look and feel of the wood.
